Groundbreaking Technology Simulates the Rich Resonance of a Grand Piano
Acoustic grand pianos emit sound through the complex movements of a vast number of parts, namely hammers connected to the keys that strike strings inside a wooden case, amplifying the sound. This mechanism, which took centuries to perfect, is absent from digital pianos. Yamaha uses proprietary know-how and technology to reproduce the sound of a grand piano. Grand Expression Modeling digitally simulates tonal variance by accurately sensing the slightest differences in the speed and intensity of the keys. Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) recreates the rich tones produced by the vibrations and resonance of the strings, damper, body, and duplex scaling of a grand piano in response to the player’s input on the keyboard.
Deep, Clear, Natural Sound
The two-way speakers clearly produce the full spectrum of sound, from substantial bass to light treble, with no distortion or noise. Yamaha angled the speakers slightly toward the bench so that you're enveloped by sound as you play. Yamaha also made significant improvements to the speaker boxes. Flared bass reflex ports and proprietary sound-absorbing tubes substantially reduce wind noise, vibration noise, and other excess noise, which helps to deliver a higher quality of sound. The P525 is also the first digital piano equipped with an FIR filter, which makes fine adjustments to the phase of the sound. This allows your audience to hear a naturally pleasing sound as you play.

By linking the P525 with Yamaha’s dedicated Smart Pianist app, you can intuitively perform all operations on the P525 from the screen of your smart device. There’s no longer any need to pull out the manual to see how things work.
Sound That's Clearly Distinguishable Even At Low Volumes
Have you ever turned down the volume because you were worried about disturbing others, only to find that the instrument becomes harder to hear or that it’s less rewarding to play? The P-525 is equipped with Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC), which automatically adjusts the sound quality according to your volume settings. This makes it easier to hear by slightly raising the volume of the treble and bass parts to match the characteristics of the human ear, which typically has trouble distinguishing the higher- and lower-end ranges at low volumes. You can even use this feature when you're using headphones, making it easier on your ears, even when you practice for long periods of time.
Dedicated Optional Stand and Sustain Pedal for More Authentic Performances
If you want to play your P525 like an acoustic piano instead of casually on a tabletop or desktop, Yamaha offers an optional stand L-515 and three-pedal unit LP1 (including damper pedal with half-pedaling capability) that works just like the pedals on a grand piano. Yamaha also offers the optional three-pedal unit FC35 (which features a damper pedal compatible with the half-pedal function), and the included FC3A (a sustain pedal compatible with half pedaling).

If you want to take a video of your performance and share it on platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, Rec’n’Share is the way to go. Simply connect the P-525 to your smart device, and record both video and audio at the same time. The P525 also features Bluetooth connectivity.
