Richie's requirements, both on and off the road, have evolved since the original RK5's release in 2014. The SansAmp, Reverb, Delay, and Roto sections, as well as Richie's signature OMG overdrive, are all still there on the Tech 21 Richie Kotzen RK5 Signature Fly Rig Version 3 Amp Pedal in Red. Along with the addition of an Effect Loop, new features include a switchable Pre and Post Boost to boost drive and distortion or raise the overall volume to punch up fills and solos. Additionally, it is already set up to supply phantom power for Richie's Tech 21 Signature RK Killer Wail wah.
All-Analog, All-Amazing
Clean tones in the tube amplifier sound spectrum are the main focus of the RK5's all-analog SansAmp component. It has Level and Drive controls as well as a 3-band active EQ. You have the option to add overdrive from the OMG area or use the Drive control and Boost feature to dirty things up. Or do each of the three. Different tones can be achieved by each procedure. The Richie Kotzen Signature OMG pedal, which offers a broad spectrum of overdrive from clean to aggressive, serves as the foundation for the OMG section. You can use it for extra punch with a dirty amp tone or to give a clean amp some flair. Tone with specialized voicing allows you to modify the high-end and mid-range, while Drive controls the overall gain and overdrive. A Fuzz switch gives the overdrive a fuzz-style tone, thickening its attack and character. Additional features include the added Tech 21 Model DC9 universal self-adjusting 9V DC power supply with interchangeable international prong assemblies for use anywhere in the world, a Tap Tempo Delay that can be converted into a rotating speaker effect, and an independent footswitchable Reverb with a choice of large and small 'room sizes.'
