8 Mic and Line Inputs
Eight high-performance SSL-designed microphone pres with switchable Mic and Line settings are included in the SSL 18. By utilizing SSL's well-known engineering know-how, they provide recordings with extremely low noise levels and a wide dynamic range, ensuring that you capture every aspect of the performance with remarkable precision. They may be switched into Legacy 4K Mode to bring authentic analogue saturation and the recognizable 4000 series sound to drums, voices, and other instruments. Inputs 1 and 2, which are situated on the front of the device, also provide instrument or Hi-Z inputs for recording vintage synths, drum machines, and DI guitars. 10 Line Level Outputs
On the back side of the SSL 18, you may find 10 balanced line-level outputs. Line outputs 1 and 2, as well as 3 and 4, can be set between plus 9 and plus 24 dBu to optimize headroom and guarantee the best possible signal integrity. This guarantees smooth compatibility with a variety of older equipment running at lower levels and studio monitors. Professional outboard equipment can be seamlessly integrated with outputs 3 to 10 that run at plus 24 dBu. Dual Headphone Outputs

Fully Digital I and O
With an extra 16 channels via ADAT and two more via S/PDIF, the SSL 18 is prepared to increase your I/O count whenever you'd like thanks to a variety of digital audio interfaces. Rock-solid clocking for incorporating external digital devices into your system is provided by SSL 18's dedicated Word clock output. It has two S/PDIF I and O channels, sixteen ADAT I and O channels, and word clock output.
Listen Mic Compressor
A complete monitor controller section with integrated talkback input is a feature of the SSL 18. Alternate speaker switching is provided by line outputs 182 and 3 and 4, with Alt, Talk, and Cut buttons available through the front panel display controls. As an alternative, use SSL 360 to modify the monitor controls to fit your workflow. Put the talkback input in Line mode and use the vintage Listen Mic Compressor to reprocess sounds. Furthermore, any input or aux master may be routed straight to an output using a flexible Mirror Routing system, which makes it ideal for feeding external metering, outboard FX, and personal monitoring systems.
