Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Summilux 25-50mm f/1.7 ASPH. Lens

Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Summilux 20-50mm / F1.7 ASPH. H-X2550 lens is built for mirrorless Micro Four Thirds (MFT) mount cameras, enabling F1.7 aperture brightness throughout the entire 50-100mm (35mm camera equivalent) zoom range. Its exceptionally high optical performance is suitable for both professional photographers and videographers.

Exceptional Optical Performance

Comprising 17 elements in 12 groups, the lens system features three aspherical lenses and four ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses that effectively suppress the axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration of magnification. Spherical aberration and distortion are also corrected by the aspherical lenses for stunningly high resolution. The use of aspherical lenses with the optimum design of the lens system results in a compact size and lightweight lens.

Smooth Shooting

Compatibility with a maximum 240-fps high-speed sensor drive realizes high-speed, high-precision autofocusing. In addition to the silent operation achieved by the inner focus drive system, the stepless aperture ring and micro-step drive system in the aperture control section help the camera to smoothly catch up to brightness changes when zooming or panning. The optical design achieves exceptional barycentric stability to minimize image shifts during zooming. A focus ring is equipped for intuitive, precise focusing and linear/ non-linear settings can also be switched with this ring.

Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Summilux 25-50mm f/1.7 ASPH. Lens

Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Summilux 25-50mm f/1.7 ASPH. Lens SKU: H-X2550

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hands down not leaving my camera Absolutely love this lens - legit my new favorite lens. I was exclusively shooting on the Voightlander 25mm f0.95 because I just love shooting on the 50mm focal length. As a wedding videographer and recent Covid-19 restrictions - moving closer to the couples were not ideal at times. I had this lens on pre-order since it was announced and wasn't able to get my hands on until literal months later. After using it a couple of times - I'm absolutely in love with the large aperture. Great for filming in low-light, the autofocus feels snappier (when I use it) and I love the heft of the lens. Just like the Voightlander this lens makes the camera easier to handle with the extra weight. I'm a 100% handheld shooter and I haven't noticed a huge difference in weight while using it for 8 hours. PROS: - Leica lens (color rendition is superb) - Detail from the lens = AH-MAZE-ZA-ZING - Step-less aperture - Heft in the lens - f1.7 in the full range is nice - 50 - 100mm focal length (full frame equivalent) CONS: - Can be a heavy over time - No optical stabilization (although, the Gh5's IBIS works wonders) I definitely would recommend this to anyone that enjoys shooting in the 50mm focal range that wants some extra reach. The f1.7 is ideal for low light shooting, especially on a m4/3 sensor. I've never owned a Leica lens before and now I'm a believer! Colors are beautiful, shadows and sharpness are excellent. I'm super excited about the Gh6 and any NEW lens that will be announced!
