Catalinbread Soft Focus Deluxe Multi-Effects Reverb Guitar Pedal with 6-Program Matrix (Black)

The evolution of shoegaze has reached its next stage. The Soft Focus composed a brand-new shoegaze volume. The Catalinbread Soft Focus Deluxe Multi-Effects Reverb Guitar Pedal in Black is the last word in shoegaze, but Catalinbread has gone above and beyond to deliver it. The Deluxe variant gives you precise control over every parameter across six different programs by installing the original FX500 patch's missing delay function. With an integrated footswitchable distortion circuit that you may use in parallel or series with the Soft Focus patch, you can dabble in a wide variety of shoegaze textures and soundscapes. Additionally, Catalinbread has raised the ante with a multi-function jack that may be used to tap tempo or control expressiveness. The pedal features a center-negative DC power supply that ranges from 9 to 18 volts.
Six Programs
This pedal incorporates the original unit's Standard Soft Focus patch. The Long Reverb Tails application significantly expands the amount of ambiance available by taking the regular reverb algorithm and boosting the decay period to almost endless. The Deep Modulation Warble broadens the modulation section's capabilities and gives it a second voice. At higher settings, it even bends the pitch. From the modulation to the reverb decay, every parameter in the Shimmer Soft Focus software has been enhanced in comparison to the standard Soft Focus. There's a shimmer now. The Pitch Delay with Strong Shimmer setting adds an octave to the delay repetitions, concentrating on the pitch-shifting components of the Soft Focus patch. In contrast to other modes where the expression jack regulates delay time, the Standard Soft Focus patch returns with expression linked to input volume for luscious swells in the Expression Pedal Input Control. Here, the controls for time and ‘DLY’ Mix are switched.
Programmable Mods
The symphonic mix and modulation depth are controlled by the Standard Soft Focus and Long Reverb Tails program mods. The orchestral mix and additional modulation voice intensity are controlled by the Deep Modulation Warble Mod. Modulation depth and symphonic mix are controlled by the Shimmer Soft Focus mod; however, this mode has a baseline of greater symphonic settings and mod depth, with a lot more shimmer accessible on top. Both modulation and shimmer are coupled to the Pitch Delay with Strong Shimmer mod at different intensities. Compared to its shimmer counterpart, the Mod is more subdued in program 5. The orchestral mix and modulation depth are managed by the Expression Pedal Input Control Mod.
Verb Mode
The length of the reverb trail is controlled by the Standard Soft Focus Verb. Long Reverb Tails Verb can control the length of reverb trails to an almost unlimited degree. Pitch Delay with Strong Shimmer, Expression Pedal Input Control Verbs, Shimmer Soft Focus, and Deep Modulation Warble regulate the reverb trail length close to Program 1's decay time.
Delay Mode
For Standard Soft Focus, Long Reverb Tails, Deep Modulation Warble, and Shimmer Soft Focus, delay simultaneously controls the feedback and delay mix parameters. Every delay repeat in Pitch Delay with Strong Shimmer will be moved an octave up since the delay output is now processed through a pitch shifter. Control of Expression Pedal Input Delay time is controlled by delay.
Time, Mix, and Distortion Modes
Time Mode regulates pitch delay with strong shimmer, deep modulation warble, shimmer soft focus, long reverb tails, and standard soft focus. Time serves as an input level control in Expression Pedal Input Control Delay. Wet and dry signals are blended in Mix mode. All programs will have high-gain distortion on the 'dry' side if the toggle is set to 'Parallel' while the distortion is active. For every program, Distortion modifies the wet-dry mix of a high-gain type distortion driven by an op-amp with fixed gain and loudness.
Parallel and Series Mode
The dry signal path is swapped out for a high-gain distortion circuit in Parallel Mode, which causes the Mix knob to alternate between distortion and Soft Focus. Massive distorted reverb and modulation with a complete wet-dry blend are produced when the distortion circuit is in Series mode, which takes place before the Soft Focus.
