Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Body Only)

The new full-frame mirrorless camera currently under development will fully leverage the advantages of the EOS R System to realize high-speed continuous shooting and 8K video recording in order to expand the boundaries of visual expression. Additionally, it can contribute to a more efficient workflow thanks to improved transmission functionality, operability, and reliability. These enhancements and more will help the new camera elevate the EOS Series concept of speed, comfort, and high image quality to a higher level.

Flagship Camera Canon EOS R5

Make way for the new king. The EOS R5 is here with groundbreaking 8K resolution video recording, included for the first time ever in a Canon camera. With all-new Animal Detection AF and powerful In-Body Image Stabilization that goes up to 8 stops for edge-to-edge high quality images and video made possible by the RF mount, experience the best of Canon's full-frame mirrorless series with this flagship model -- the EOS R5.

Next-Gen Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera

Canon's EOS R5, the first of the next-generation full-frame mirrorless cameras in the company's EOS R System, will include a newly developed CMOS sensor that makes possible such advanced features as high-speed continuous shooting-up to approximately 20 fps using an electronic shutter and up to approximately 12 fps using a mechanical shutter-to facilitate shooting of athletes at sporting events and other fast-moving subjects.

8K Video Capture

In addition, the camera's 8K video capture capability will enable users to extract high-resolution still images from video footage as well as process 8K video into higher-quality 4K video, opening up new possibilities for visual expression. What's more, the EOS R5 will be the first Canon camera equipped with a high-performance coordinated image stabilization (IS) system that integrates the camera's in-body IS with IS systems on attached RF lenses. The camera will also feature dual media card slots and will support automatic transfer of image files from the device to the Canon cloud platform (to be available from early April 2020).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The R5 experience The best camera I have ever owned. Lightweight but versatile.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tripod Mount broke under normal use The camera works decent. However for the price you would think they would cover their products for more than a year. But no, unlike Swarovski unmatched backing of the quality of their products, you get a measly 1 year warranty unless you opt in to pay even more. Beware of using the tripod mount. I used it with a camera cage to product my camera body, but eventually the metal threads gave out and broke. Cheap magnesium? Who knows but I am beyond annoyed that this defect is not covered. This will be my last Canon purchase. You become average when your warranty doesn’t back the quality of your products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Camera, Highly Recommended! While the upgraded features for the R5 II are really nice, bang for the buck, the original R5 cannot be beat. After reading many reviews that mentioned overheating and/or shutting down, I was a bit hesitant to plop down cash for what would be the most expensive camera I have ever purchased. I can now say that I have had ZERO such issues. I did several torture test just to see how the camera would respond. First up was continuous video recording using a Canon OEM battery and two other off-brand batteries. Drained all three of them with the only shutdowns coming when the battery charge dropped too low to power the camera. I have even left it out in the sun with power on all afternoon when the temps were in the mid 90's and still not a hint of an issue. Just kept shooting (recording on both cards at the same time) and waiting for hours on end to see if it would crash. In spite of the harsh conditions, the R5 continued to performed flawlessly. Perhaps these results are from the latest firmware update, cannot say one way or the other but I can attest that the R5 is just as reliable as my old 90D and every other Canon camera I have owned in the past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best results in 60+ yrs. Coming from FILM days and DSLRs, R5 imaging and camera capabilities are superior. Learning to use the full gamut is worth the effort ! Digital manual takes patience. All the other Canon support bridges some gaps....THANKS

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's not what I expected for a 3K camera Nice camera. Layout is ok. Menu is great, functions are outstanding. Happy with the fact it has an audio recorder for photo journal work. Really sad it's only 72 dpI... really Canon? You already know the standard for print work is 300 dpi. (which the R6 MK II has!) Just another tactic to force us into a buying a better, more expensive camera body.. Your multiple tactics to force us into making you more money sickens me. Just like forced canon lenses because you won't release the data for others to create the RF mounts.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buggy, Unreliable Camera. This camera is great at some things like low light and focus, however it is super buggy, throwing error codes, over heating, and excessive battery usage to just name a few faults. These deep flaws in high pressure situations have left me questioning my trust in canon as a whole and turning to my more dated however reliable 5D Mark IV in situations where I need TRUST. All recent generations of canon products have been faulty in both camera and lighting. I suggest if you are not invested into this system and starting out to look into more reliable systems. I have been a professional photographer since 2003 and.a canon user my entire career. I don't say this lightly. I am disappointed at the highest level regarding quality.
